The Frank Talk!
“Frank Talk” By President Obama Please do not call it the State of the Union Address
Did you watch President Obamas’ speech? What did you think?
I was actually surprised when the special report came onto my television. I guess I was not aware that it was on, no I do not live in a cave, just out of touch, on this one I guess. As I sat there listening to the President, I had to concur that he appeared as a father who was talking to a nation of wayward toddlers. An as I really thought about our economy as he spoke I came to the realization that truthfully each and everyone of us, whether high or low income, companies or individuals has had a part in getting our nation into the resessional state it lies in today. So we definitely needed a Frank talk! My thought is we have become a greedy nation, myself included, the more we had the more we wanted. We as people many times want the things we cannot or should not try to buy, based on our income, yet we still applied for loans, and spend spend spend way beyond our means. No I am not so naive as to think we ourselves caused this, but we definitely need to realize and admit, we had a part in it just as the banks, politicians, companies and CEO did.
I think President Obama has many solid ideas, he is striving to be quick to act, with his stimulus package of $787 billion, meant to get the people back to work, he seemed to be in touch with America by making a comment about police officers in MO remaining on the job because of the economic rescue plan. He also promised to cut spending and reduce the deficit by ½ by the end of his first term, referencing that Vise President Joe Biden, would be the watchdog, and stating that nobody messes with Joe. It also appears he has a plan to be more watchful making others more accountable for their actions.. He has three fold plan that includes renewal energy, health care reform and education. He also mentioned other areas that he plans to address such as a federal lending fund, housing plan. I do not think he has all the answers but I think he has the right idea even though he may have been a bit vague on many of the solutions. He is trying and I think we the people must get behind him and “Cowboy Up” and do are part as well. We as a nation should not forget the lesson that we learned
